just call me, the medical wonder

Well, a lot has happened during the past month and a half since my last post. I have photos from all kinds of events and plenty of crazy and funny “living in Vienna” stories to share. But some of that will be posted early next week. For now I want to make this update short and sweet and ask for some prayer.

This Thursday I have a PET scan to make sure that the cancer is still in remission. That scan will take place on July 21 at 8:30 a.m. I’d love your prayers for a clear scan, but that regardless of the outcome that God will be glorified.

The reason I say call me the medical wonder is because I’m beginning to wonder medically, “What’s next?!” Last Tuesday I went in to see my oncologist because of pain I had under my ribs. I knew from a previous PET scan that I potentially had gallstones. So I wanted to see if this what was causing the pain. Sure enough after doing an ultra sound, in the words of my oncologist, “You have two beautiful and impressive gallstones.” My response, “Great!” full of sarcasm. He said I would need to have my gallbladder removed within the next six months. I think I ate too many McDonalds fries and Chick-Fil-A chicken minis during my full-chemotherapy days! ha!

Right now I’m working on the details of what that would look like. Pray that God would give me wisdom in this decision, that He would guide me and cover me with His peace that goes beyond understanding. Well, my life is definitely not dull! You never know what will happen in the first six months in a new place, gallstones weren’t even on the horizon in my thinking. We’ll see what God wants to do with this yuck and turn it around for good and His glory. I’ll keep you posted!

Have a great week!
