Hi everyone! Just a quick post to let you know I fly out today for Vienna. I’m really excited, blessed and thankful for this opportunity. If you’re on my mailing list then you should receive my newsletter soon if you haven’t already.
My appointment on February 28 with the transplant team went really well. They explained everything in terms that weren’t over my head. Although, the appointment was at 8 a.m. in Lexington which is about 1.5 hours away, so I was still a bit dazed from the early morning commute. I have decided to proceed with a stem cell transplant that will involve a donor. We’re hoping the donor will be my brother, but we have to see how the tests come back first. This type of transplant involves more risk because of having someone else’s cells being transplanted into my body and how my body will respond. However, with much risk there is also much potential of the closest thing we can get for a cure to this type of cancer.
There are many more details I will get into and explain in the coming months. As far as we know right now my insurance has approved this procedure and we’re in the process of seeing if my brother and I are a match. There are still many unknowns. I’ve never been through something this intense in my cancer treatment, and that can cause anxiety. But in the midst of all the unknowns I have peace and much hope in God writing this story. I know deep down this is the right path even when I don’t understand why.
continue to join me in prayer
Pray for this matching process, for smooth communication and approval in each step with the insurance. Pray for the timing of when the actual procedure will begin. I’m unsure exactly when it will start. I will have to undergo many tests for my heart, kidneys, liver, lungs, etc. before they even put me in the hospital to begin.
Pray that ultimately God will be glorified through this. I have no idea what this story is going to look like. Pray that He will be glorified through my time in Vienna and that I will get many special moments with the many special people I have met during my time living in Austria. Pray for the details of packing, loading a container, the details of closing out accounts and even the details of figuring out Austrian taxes.
Pray that with all of the details I’ll have my hands in during this coming month that I will depend on Jesus in every step and if things get stressful that I will stop and turn to Him and ask for His wisdom in each situation and the right people to turn to for help. Pray for the safety of two friends I have coming to help me finish packing and to fly back with me in April.
Hope you have a great weekend!! More updates from the otherside of the pond!
Praying for you dear Krishana! I'm sure it was not an easy decision to make. Thanks for the updates. I'll be praying for a perfect match and great treatment time. Keep running the race! You are such a joy and witness to those around you for Christ! I'll be praying for your time in Austria as you say farewell for now.
